Harmonious Sounds

Shizukesa no naka    ichitsubu ochita dake
Hirogaru hamon ni    namiutsu ido no soko

In the silence, just one drop falls,
Expanding ripples pulsating at the bottom of a well.

Zawatsuita watashi no kokoro no mori wo yusaburu kogarashi yo
Kyozon dekiru mono nara sono mama de

Wintry wind, shaking the noisy forest of my heart,
If you can exist, then stay the way you are.

Anyone would shed tears if they heard that quiet voice in this forest against the cacophony.

(Watashi no kokoro ni odayaka na toki wo kaeshitekureru
Hishimeku oto wa taemanaku soshite shizuka de zawatsuita
Kono mori ni)*

A peaceful time returns to my heart,
The clamboring sounds go on without cease, and then make quiet noise
In this forest

In this forest, the clamboring sounds go on without cease,
A peaceful time returns to my noisy heart.

Sink, sink, into the sea of sounds,
Harmonize, harmonize, with the sea of sounds.

*Translator's Note: These verses are written in backwards Japanese. For example, wa-ta-shi no ko-ko-ro ni becomes ni ro-ko-ko no shi-ta-wa because Japanese uses a system of syllabic mora instead of individual phonemes/morphemes like English.
